The Process Start-to-Finish


Although each website is customized based on specific business needs, there is a basic order of events that takes place in the process.  Our goal is to meet your website needs from start-to-finish, so here's an overview of what you can expect:

Initial meeting to gather information ... 

  • What does your business do?
  • What are your goals and how will a website fit into your overall marketing plan?
  • Who is your target audience and what are their needs?
  • What domain name will you use?
  • How many employees do you have and will each of them need an e-mail address?
Setup & Planning – In this phase ...
  • Register domain name, setup hosting and e-mail accounts.
  • Start gathering existing text, logos, photos, brochures, graphics, etc., then determine additional needs.
  • Determine a color scheme, theme or general look/feel for your site
  • Develop a site map & determine how/where the individual components will fit into it.
  • Determine important key words for your business and industry to incorporate into the copy.
Design phase ...
  • Create several design samples for you to choose from.
Development ...
  • Combine all the above into an actual, functional site beginning with the Home page.
  • Add page titles, descriptions and ensure content is key word rich.
  • Make sure HTML code is clean.
Testing and Delivery ...
  • Test functionality of site in common web browsers. 
  • Once site has final approval, publish to Internet.
  • Once published, a final test will be performed to ensure each page, link and file is functioning properly.

MAINTAINING YOUR SITE

One way to bring repeat visitors to your site is to offer new content or products on a regular basis.  (See Maintaining Your Site for full article).  In summary:

  • Promote your website online AND offline
  • Provide features that keep customers coming back

  • Use a strong URL, page title, page description, heading and key word rich content on each page.
  • Keep content fresh.

  • Have a text-based site map and easy navigation.
  • Keep content simple and focused.
  • Do not overuse key words.
